Om jobbet

Department of Animal Biosciences
Do you want to work on large dairy cattle datasets, heat tolerance breeding, and the future of genomic prediction?
About the position
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher in dairy cattle quantitative genetics and genomics. You work on developing genetic evaluation for heat tolerance in Swedish dairy cattle, evaluating new methods for genomic prediction, and modelling deleterious variants in cattle breeding programs. This research will mix data analysis, computational modelling and theoretical work. The research will be performed in collaboration with breeding organisations and in interaction with several ongoing projects in cattle genetics and genomics. There will be considerable room for the successful candidate to shape the contents of the research and be creative.

Your profile

You have a PhD in animal science, genetics, or a related subject. The doctorate was awarded no more than three years before the last application date. You have excellent English language skills, both in speaking and writing.

Experiences with large phenotypic datasets, data management in a Linux environment, quantitative genetic modelling (including use of software such as DMU, BLUPF90, WOMBAT, ASReml), development of genetic evaluation, genomic prediction, programming in R or Python, or genetic simulation are beneficial.

About us

Our research covers everything from livestock, sports and companion animals to laboratory animals and wildlife. Researchers in the department work across the entire range from molecular mechanisms and microbiology to the overall structure, function and behaviour of animals and how these are affected by breeding, physical activity, care, production, stress, environmental factors and disease.
